Rap legend Jam Master Jay lay, mortally wounded, on his studio floor. But he said that in the ensuing days, wounded eyewitness and aide Uriel “Tony” Rincon told him that Jordan fired the gun and Washington was there. But neither they nor Allen told investigators initially, or indeed for years, that the eyewitnesses could identify either man. “The only person you saw with a gun in hand was you, right?” asked one of Jordan's lawyers, Mark DeMarco. The witness said he grabbed it “for protection" before running out to look for anyone who might be running away.

The Employee Retention Credit was intended to be a financial lifeline to small businesses struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. Innovation Refunds — a consulting firm that focuses on the ERC — was one of the most visible advertisers during the tax credit's heyday. How Innovation Refunds worksOn its website, Innovation Refunds makes it clear it is not a tax professional. Innovation Refunds markets to clients, determines if they are viable candidates for the credit and then collects businesses' documentation. Some former employees said this could insulate Innovation Refunds from potential liability if ineligible businesses claimed the credit.

After falling nearly 7% from a cycle high in June 2022 - well short of predictions made late last year for a 12% peak-to-trough fall - average house prices started rising again in February and are now only around 1% below their peak. "While we expect house prices to lose some of their recent momentum, the worst of the correction appears to have passed and we don't expect further sustained declines," said Andrew Burrell, chief property economist at Capital Economics. Average house prices were forecast to stagnate in 2024 despite predictions for a rate cut by the middle of the year. They were forecast to average 4.17 million units in the second half of this year, lower than 4.27 million in the previous poll. Despite a near 45% pandemic-era rise in house prices and the market starting to climb again, respondents were equally split on what would happen to purchasing affordability for first-time homebuyers over the coming year.

98point6 has stopped providing virtual care and is focusing on licensing its care delivery platform. When 98point6 raised $20 million in September, it had no plans to sell its virtual care business, according to CEO Jay Burrell. Running the virtual care business took a lot more cash, though, and the digital health market was still tumbling. In March, 98point6 sold its virtual care business to Transcarent for $100 million. The fresh capital brings 98point6's total funding to $297 million, excluding the $100 million Transcarent deal, per the company.
German specialised property lenders such as Aareal Bank (ARLG.DE), Deutsche Pfandbriefbank (PBBG.DE) and Berlin Hyp, have a bigger concentration of real estate exposure, analysts added. Blackstone (BX.N) recently blocked withdrawals from its $70 billion real estate income trust after facing a flurry of redemption requests. Open-ended real estate funds in Britain have also battled to meet strong demand for redemptions. In Europe, CRE exposure for smaller banks, more at risk of deposit flight, is estimated at under 30% of all loans, Capital Economics said. "On the other, real estate owners themselves are going to face quite material increase in costs."
That 96% of that software is working," Hogben told a Stockbrokers and Investment Advisers Association conference, in footage seen by Reuters. More than a dozen brokers, other market participants and people directly involved in the blockchain project told Reuters the failure had shaken trust in the Australian exchange operator. After New York startup Digital Asset Holdings showed ASX executives a test transaction on its blockchain software, ASX in early 2016 signed the little-known company to begin exploratory work on an overhaul. From an initial plan to run about 12 of CHESS's 400 data transfers per transaction on blockchain, ASX decided the new system would include all 400 transfers, the person said. Its spokesperson told Reuters there was "no off-the-shelf solution available to meet the needs of the Australian market".
The U.K. commercial property sector has become a "toxic environment" for investors, according to Plurimi Wealth's chief investment officer. Shares of British Land and Land Securities have fallen by 23.1% and 18.5% this year, respectively. With U.K. government bonds offering a yield of about 3%, commercial property valuations have fallen to compensate for a rise in yields above sovereign gilts. British Land now offers a yield of 7.1%, a full percentage point above its long-term average, according to UBS. The investment bank suggests that with every 0.5 to 1 percentage point rise in yield, values fall by 15-20%.
